BSocSc(Psych)(Hons),(Assoc) APS
Michael is a general psychologist trained in the United States and Australia.
Michael is eager to support adult clients with their pursuits of an enriched lifestyle through a committed and dedicated process of psychological practice. He utilizes the theoretical components of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).
Michael has a special interest in assisting individuals that have trauma or adverse life experiences in their past. He has been trained in using an effective therapy for assistance with these issues called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.
The core assumption of the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model – the theoretical basis of EMDR—is that there is a natural, physically based mechanism in all human beings for processing and resolving disturbing or incongruent life experiences.
Michael has experience in crisis assessments and facilitating the appropriate linkages and supports for individuals to assist with their issues and works from a Recovery focused model of care. He also has experience in helping adults manage anxiety, stress and depression.
Michael also works with Queensland Health and is an Authorised Mental Health Clinician. He is also an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society.
