ANGELIQUE DE GROUCHY – YOGA

Angelique took her first yoga class at the age of 18. From the moment she stepped on the mat, she knew that she had found something special. She wasn’t sure whether it was the dim lighting, the essential oils, the breathing, the movement, the mediation or a combination of all these things, but something seemed to spark in her that night. She stayed for savasana and floated blissfully out of the class feeling absolutely amazing. In the years that followed she slowly and steadily continued her practice, finding comfort and refuge in its dependability and familiarity.  Funnily enough, half way through a Creative Arts Degree, Angelique realized she had an undeniable desire to teach the ancient art that she practised on the mat. The spark was strong, but with a Music Major to complete she questioned whether it could be done in that moment. Suddenly, she found herself daydreaming through university lectures and tutorials about an amazing yoga business that she could start. It would be about creating sacred space and fusing yoga, movement and mediation with stellar playlists and live music. It would be about breaking rules, having more fun, empowering people, encouraging a sense of connection and community. It HAD to be done. So in her final year of university, Angelique undertook her yoga teacher training. They say when the student is ready the teacher will appear. They did.

GabyShadforth

GABY SHADFORTH – PILATES

Gaby is a fully qualified personal trainer, but her real passion is Pilates. She has had considerable back pain after bulging discs and having old horse riding injuries. Gaby started doing Pilates and her back pain was reduced by 95% and knew she just had to train up and share Pilates with other people.

Gaby is a former teacher so she really enjoy educating her clients about their bodies. In order to stay stronger for longer, it is important to know our bodies well, where we’re tight or weak and where we need to strengthen to protect old injuries.

Pilates is both a mind and body exercise which not only strengthens our muscles to cope better with the everyday physical stresses of life but also helps with relaxation and concentration. Gaby loves Pilates because it provides an all over workout. Pilates is not just for women, acrobats and dancers. It can be practised by anybody regardless of age, height, weight or sex.


LILY TALOOLA – YOGA

From a young age Lily had always been interested in health, nutrition, sports and wellness so it came as no surprise that this was the career path she chose.  After a few years racking up her qualifications, Lily left her home country of England at the young age of nineteen on a mission to share this healthy way of life with as many other people as possible.  Lily has worked all around the world as a sports coach, yoga teacher, nutritionist etc … helping spend the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle before settling on the beautiful sunshine coast a few years ago.
Lily is falling in love with teaching yoga all over again with every class she teaches and feels absolutely blessed to be teaching a number of yoga classes in this beautiful part of the world now.  Lily feels that it is a gift to share the practice of yoga with other people and she intends to teach for the rest of her time. The style of yoga Lily teaches here is a gentle hatha flow. This class is suited to yogi’s of all levels, and is designed to help nurture the body in the most peaceful and fluid way.


BEN GAFFNEY – QIGONG 

Qigong is a combination of exercise techniques designed to improve health, increase longevity, and enhance functional ability. These techniques have been developed and refined since antiquity and are based on the traditional Chinese medical premise that the body’s fluids must circulate without unnecessary blockage for optimal health.  Similarly, potential and kinetic energy must circulate without unnecessary blockage for optimal movement, which makes these techniques of great value to athletes, martial artists, dancers, and yogis alike.  Furthermore, it is understood that circulation deteriorates with age as a consequence of the muscular tension we all develop when we first learn to stand and move.  The deterioration in circulation eventually leads to sub-optimal organ function and poor health over ensuing decades.  Qigong aims to change the way we move to improve circulation.


KELLEE BRANKS – YOGA

Yoga has been a part of Kellee’s life for the past 10 years. Initially drawn to the practice purely for the physical benefits, she soon discovered there was a lot more to it.  Through her own challenging life situations she says yoga was always there for her, it allowed her to connect to her true nature and create a sense of peace within when the outer world was a little chaotic .

Kellee teaches vinyasa flow classes that are creative and down to earth, she believes sometimes yoga can be taken too seriously so brings some lightness and fun to the class. She caters for all levels and abilities and believes yoga is for everyone – not just for the super bendy.  Kellee also puts a strong focus on the breath throughout her classes, she believes our breath is the link between our bodies & mind, therefore concentrating on your breath allows you to come into the present moment and enables us to become more mindful, in yoga and in your daily life.

Kellee also teaches yoga nidra, mindfulness, facilitates yoga retreats and sharing circles for women.

ERIN ASHLEY – YOGA

Erin’s quotes her 20-year long practice of yoga and mindfulness as key to finding holistic life balance. “In life, change is guaranteed, and yoga teaches us how to respond skillfully and whole-heartedly to these changes.” 

Erin has plenty of life experience to put her yoga into action, including managing the sudden death of her husband, parenting, moving houses and careers, not to mention the day-to-day changes we all face. Becoming a teacher of this ancient practice was only a natural step for Erin.

“Yoga is a way of getting to know your true nature – physically, energetically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. And when you make time to nurture the relationship you have with yourself, you start operating in life in a way that keeps you inspired…in your spirit. Only then does your relationship with life itself and all the people in it thrive, in an engaged and compassionate way.”

Erin has an innate ability to create an amazing experience for anyone who has ever been taught by her. Trained in Power Yoga, Core Yoga, Mindfulness and Meditation, she offers genuine care and support in her classes with an underlying flavour of inspiration that is subtle yet powerful. 


SUSANNE MCALLISTER – NIA MOVEMENT 

Susanne McAllister has been working in private practice as a Wellness Coach, Counsellor, Mentor and Clinical Hypnotherapist over the last 15 years in Spain, Germany and Australia. 

Susanne has string of degrees to her name and a passion for teaching Nia Dance, which she has been doing in various locations for 5 years.

She is a fully licensed Nia Instructor with many years of teaching and dedication to this somatic practice that follows’ The Joy of Movement” principle.  


MADDIE BETTEGA – YOGA

Maddie has been practicing and teaching fitness classes, yoga and meditation for the past 19+ years in particular teaching individual private sessions, small groups and large groups (3–40 people).

Maddie has over 800 teaching hours, and her training is in Hatha Vinyasa Yoga with a foundation in meditation, as that was the style in which her teachers were trained. Maddie’s personal practice includes many different styles, including Vinyasa, Yoga Nidra, Restorative Yoga, Yin, Acro, Silks, Kids, Partner and Flow Yoga, and she incorporates different elements from those disciplines into each of her classes.

Maddie has also trained with Les Mills Australia, renowned experts, and she has learned to incorporate the healing powers of Pilates and Tai Chi into her classes. BODYBALANCE® is the Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates workout that builds flexibility and strength and leaves you feeling centered and calm.

Maddie is a certified advanced level two yoga teacher, registered with the Yoga Alliance, and is currently working toward her chakra certification for continuing development.


DONOVAN HOLBROOK – YOGA

Donovan comes from a dance and theatre background and has performed his traditional Hawaiian dancing at a variety of events across Queensland. His yogic journey began in Hawaii, where he was taught his first Downward Facing Dog. After experiencing the world from a different perspective, he decided to embark on a voyage of self-discovery.
This led to experimenting with different styles of yoga and meditation, before choosing to dive deeper into the ocean of Vinyasa. Donovan wishes to share The Practice with as many people as possible, as yoga has given him an increase of energy and zest for life! 
 

ERIN HORNE – YOGA

Erin is originally from Vancouver, Canada, where her yoga journey began in 2008 after a spinal injury from a snowboarding accident.  She came to the practice seeking physical healing but stumbled across something much more powerful…. SAVASANA!!  At the end of every class she felt this incredible sense of bliss and relaxation as she stepped back into the world.  Over time she found increased strength and flexibility from yoga, but most importantly she found a bit of peace, calm and clarity.  From this clarity came the desire and drive to share this experience with others.  She wanted to be the one helping and guiding others to experience this state of relaxed bliss.  In 2014 she began her yoga teacher training and is now a 500 hour certified Vinyasa Yoga Teacher.  Erin’s classes are fun and flowing with a strong focus on settling the mind and finding that quiet space.  She incorporates dynamic movement mixed with aspects of meditation and restorative yoga to create a balance between strength and stillness.  Erin’s greatest joy now is watching her students leave class with the same expression she had on her face after that first savasana.

As well as teaching regular yoga classes, Erin’s business Varsha Yoga offers meditation classes, restful, restorative yoga workshops and half day mini retreats, all with a focus on deep relaxation.

 

TALIA DREW – YOGA

Talia is an athletic, energetic young lady with a passion for health and wellbeing. She has been practising yoga since the age of 14 as it has been an integral part of her competitive swimming training and played a significant role in her rehabilitation from double knee surgery. She is wanting to share the many benefits she has received from yoga to both children and adults. Talia is currently studying nutrition at university, swims daily and chooses a healthy relaxed lifestyle. She feels yoga is a great support in helping everyone of all ages deal with the stresses of our daily activities, giving us the strength to tackle all that life throws at us. Talia will be teaching Children’s yoga, Adults Fitness yoga, Adults yoga and Relaxation and Stress Relief for both Children and Adults. Her neutral style of yoga and relaxation allows for all ages and abilities to feel comfortable and receive what they feel they need from her classes. She wants all children to feel satisfaction in their academic and social lives with ease and for all adults to feel calm and empowered for the day ahead with the simple addition of yoga. Talia created her own business PURE asana in 2016 as her goal is to help others to feel fulfilled in there day to day lives and to help them become the best version of themselves.
